About the event
Middle and High School students from Crittenden County will spend two days in Little Rock participating in intensive writing and art workshops guided by a professional artist, a poet and writer, and an award-winning journalist. This camp is part of a year-long initiative that includes identifying regional history makers, conducting interview sessions between students and history makers, and having students compose essays and create artwork that reflect their perspectives on the life journeys of these influential individuals.
The year 2026 marks the sixth consecutive year that the Celebrate! Maya Project has partnered with Arkansas communities to produce a Community History Book. This publication highlights regional history, features unsung community leaders, and showcase students’ writing and art.
