Executive Director

DeltaARTS was launched in 1972 as a volunteer-operated adult community theater, housed in our founder’s home. Since then, DeltaARTS has blossomed into an arts agency that exposes the beauty and application of art into the lives of people of all ages in Crittenden County and our surrounding communities.  Today, DeltaARTS operates out of the Glenn P. Schoettle Arts Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility in West Memphis. The mission statement of DeltaARTS’ is, “Imaginative Arts Education for the Delta,” which is the driving force behind all that we do.

 

 ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Executive Director of DeltaARTS oversees the operations, finances, activities, and the staff; the position reports to the Board of Directors. This individual is responsible for the continuity of DeltaARTS’ – being led by the mission and vision while ensuring that the daily decisions follow the strategic direction of the organization and affect positive community change.


 

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Governance:

·         Lead the organization’s strategic planning processes - coordinating with the DeltaARTS’ Board of Directors and other key stakeholders in the development, execution, and scheduled reviews of DeltaARTS’ Strategic Plan

·         Develop and lead annual operating plans to attain strategic goals and objectives created in conjunction with the Board of Directors

·         Establish and maintain a positive work environment that encourages creative thinking and successful relationships

·         Communicate effectively with the Board, by providing information necessary for the Board to make informed decisions and recommendations, including but not limited to reports on the progress in achieving strategic and operational goals




 

 Communications:

·         Develop and nurture relationships of trust and transparency with the community, volunteers, donors, partners, and staff

·         Attend and participate in meetings with staff, special events, and community activities, to increase awareness of and promote DeltaARTS

·         Collaborate with staff on the development of regularly scheduled communications with the community

·         Serve as the spokesperson and face for DeltaARTS in the community

 

 Financial Sustainability:

·         Develop and manage the annual budget, as approved by the Board of Directors, with the authority to adjust the budget or authorize emergency expenditures, as needed

·         Work with the Development Director on fundraising efforts on behalf of the organization, including but not limited to grant development, special events, and annual giving

·         Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure the fiscal integrity and longevity of the organization through wise stewardship of funds and investments

·         Oversee all grant writing and accurate distribution of grants received

 

Operations:

·         Hire and manage all staff of DeltaARTS, as needed, to ensure the organization’s needs are met

·         In partnership with DelaARTS staff, develop programmatic strategies that are actionable and consistent with the mission of DeltaARTS

·         Recognize problems and create plans of action for identified issues reflecting a proactive approach to crisis management for both the staff and the organization

·         Manage staff pay, benefits, policy, and structure, with the advice of the Board

·         Other duties, as assigned





 

 PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

·         A bachelor’s degree in public administration, non-profit management, education, fine arts management, or a related field is required, Master’s degree preferred

·         Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a leadership position, with a proven track record of effectively managing multiple responsibilities, building relationships, and knowledge of governance principles and managerial best practices

·         Excellent written and oral communication

·         Experience in developing and implementing strategies and plans

·         Strong understanding of nonprofit finance and performance measures, including a proven track record of developing and implementing successful fundraising endeavors

·         Strong attention to detail

·         Ability to think “out of the box”

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and G-Suite

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position involves general office work, walking or standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting and loading up to 20 pounds. The candidate must have personal transportation with up-to-date registration and insurance available for all off-site meetings & events; and possess a valid driver’s license. The ability to work nights and/or weekends as dictated by DeltaARTS fundraising and programming will be required.

·         Personal interest in the area DeltaARTS serves; Crittenden County, and the surrounding communities

 


 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Full-time, attendance at special events on nights and weekends as needed, in-office position.

 

 COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

Salary base is $70K+. After a 30-day probationary period, the candidate is eligible for insurance, and retirement benefits, paid holidays, and sick/vacation pay.
